A list of attributes Paul counseled members to improve:
- Increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men
- Abstain from fornication.
- Be sanctified and be honorable
- To study more and more
- Work with your own hands
- Be honest
- Be prepared by increasing our faith, love, and hope in salvation
- Comfort and edify each other
- Support the weak, and be patient toward all men
- Pray often
- Hold fast to what is good
- Continue to keep the commandments
- Abstain from having bad influences in our lives
(1 Thessalonians 3:12-13; 4:1-12; 5:1-22; 2 Thessalonians 3:1-6,
11)
In reviewing this list I feel that I can improve in all
the attributes that Paul has counseled us to work on, but three that I feel I
can definitely work harder on are increase my love towards everyone, abstain
from having bad influences in my life, and hold fast to what is good. I plan to
be more patient and kinder towards everyone around me in order to increase my
love for them. I plan to not associate myself with those who are bad influences
as much, and surround myself with people who will uplift me and push me to
continue to do what is good. Which takes me to my third attribute that I plan
to improve which is to hold fast to what is good. I plan to continue to keep the
commandments, go to church, and seek the righteous things in life. I hope that
as I continue to improve and work on myself, that I can be a good example to
others and continue to uplift them as well.
