“There hath no temptation take you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above
that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that
ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
This promise from the Lord was so reassuring in the
times of old, and continues to be in these times. Lusts, idolatry, fornicate,
and murmurings were sins that plagued ancient times, and continue to do so in
our world today. We are constantly being tempted by Satan to commit sin.
Whether big or small we can bear any temptation. The Lord reassures us that if
we rely on Him, He will be our “rock” and strengthen us so that we may escape
temptations. Alma also speaks of this saying, “humble yourselves before the
Lord, and call on his holy name, and watch and pray continually, that ye may
not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus be led by the Holy
Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissive, patient, full of love and all
long-suffering” (Alma 13:28). Christ is our savior, and our rock. He can succor
us, and strengthen us to withstand any temptation if only we are willing to
continually seek Him. We are promised to always have the Spirit to be with us
as long as long as we keep the commandments, and live righteous lives so that
we may be able to go forth with love in our hearts.
I have a strong testimony that the Lord can bless
us with the strength and the means to withstand any temptations if we rely in
Him. I know that if we pray for His help, and divine guidance, He will help us
overcome any trial or temptation. I also know that if we do fall, that we can
still receive His blessings if we seek Him earnestly, and genuinely repent. He
will pour His merciful love on us and continue to strengthen and uplift us.

Corinthians 10)
